Database settings

Two new features in 4D v12.1 concern parameters available in the Database Settings (Design/Database Settings... menu).

Cache flushing frequency

You can now set a value in seconds for the period of time between automatic flushings of the database cache. This option is found on the Database/Memory page of the Database settings:

By default in 4D v12.1, the value is 20 seconds. You can change this value according to the specific needs of your application.

Sorting Japanese data

You can change the sort order for Japanese language characters using the new Traditional Sorting Order option:

You can set this option on the Database/Data storage page of the Database settings. It only appears for databases where the current data language is set to Japanese. This option is checked by default in new databases created in Japanese.
